The facility is designed with the holistic client in mind, with particular focus on families, and meeting the emotional, Spiritual, education, and daily living skills of each individual. The facility has a responsibility to seek ways to enhance the lives of its clients by exposing them to various community based programs which equip each client with the necessary tools to improve their daily life skills and enhance their quality of life.

The Higher Ground Community Development Corporation will house programs such as a public and social outreach to parents, adults, youth and families of all cultures. It will enable the social and economically disadvantaged to move from the domain of inefficiency to self-sufficiency by servicing the total person. This site will provide transitional services and technical assistance that will guide individuals and families and help to break the cycle of addictive behavior.

The youth and adults in this community and neighboring communities will reap the full benefits of the services provided by the Higher Ground Community Development Corporation Economic Development Plan. Our goal is to provide budgeting classes and training to the economically disadvantaged in this and other communities. Training will include life skills training, family development training, diversion program for at-risk youth, out-patient treatment services for addicts, mental health and healthy living services. We plan to provide daily and weekly services to the public to enable individuals to become self sufficient. The services and activities will be provided in a Family Life Center located within the facility in the community it serves. Services for unwed mothers and after care services and counseling for ex-offenders will also be developed and made available at this facility. The services offered will enhance and expand the economic stabilization of families and individuals in the City of Houston and State of Texas as a whole.
